Hydrology of Lake Eyre Basin: Summary Brochure

Introduction

Baseline studies provide fundamental information on how natural systems work. Given that hydrology is a key driver of natural processes in the Lake Eyre Basin, it is appropriate that a broad hydrologic study be undertaken. This brochure summarises the outcomes from such a project 'Hydrology of the Lake Eyre Basin' ad describes briefly the characteristics of rainfall, temperature, evaotranspiration, streamflow, waterholes and groundwater. It concludes with a water balance for the Basin. This brochure was prepared by Sinclair Knight Merz and The University of Melbourne for the Lake Eyre Basin Ministerial Scientific Advisory Panel through the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritage, National Heritage Trust.
